Topme XL primarily blocks beta-adrenoreceptors in the heart and is utilized for managing hypertension, chest pain (angina), irregular heart rhythms, and for the treatment and prevention of myocardial infarction. It affects the autonomic nervous system, which contributes to an increased heart rate by obstructing its receptors, thereby reducing abnormally fast heart rhythms. Additionally, it lowers myocardial irritability, cardiac output, and has other effects.

 

Topme XL should be taken with food or shortly after a meal. Do not chew, crush, or break the tablet; instead, take it with a glass of water. The dosage varies based on the condition being treated and can range from 100-450 mg daily. Your doctor will determine the appropriate individual dosage for you. Older patients are advised to start with a daily dose of 50 mg. In cases of kidney failure, no dosage adjustment is needed, while liver failure may require the use of alternative beta-blockers that are not metabolized by the liver. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose is less than 4 hours away, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not attempt to make up for a missed dose by taking an extra one.

 

In the context of developing tolerance to Topme XL, some common side effects may include abdominal cramps, fatigue, insomnia, nausea, depression, memory issues, fever, impotence, lightheadedness, slow heart rate, low blood pressure, cold extremities, sore throat, diarrhea, constipation, and shortness of breath or wheezing.

 

If you experience symptoms such as irregular heartbeats, difficulty breathing, dizziness, weakness or fainting, or bluish discoloration of the fingernails, seek immediate medical assistance.
